Working on this week

I know I know I have been MIA since January..... lots of emotions I needed to cry out and over.... and now now that it is getting to be summer I am ready once again to dive in feet first.... sink or swim! BTW I can not swim so it will be an adventure!
Assingments I will be working on over the next week. I will post all pictures on May 20th

"Solitude". What is solitude to you? Remoteness, retirement, being alone? Is it a physical place or a feeling? Perhaps a portrait (self or of others) will convey the feeling. If we look at your image, a feeling of solitude should come to the viewer's mind.
"Mothers" Portraits of your own, images of mother/child interactions, memories, things that you love about them (or things that drive you crazy ). Perhaps this assignment will turn into a wonderful Mother's Day gift for someone you know.
"Fathers". Let's not forget dads and what they mean to us. Perhaps a trip to a local park may help you get some pictures of young fathers playing with their children. It doesn't need to be a portrait. Maybe you'd like to photograph something that belonged to your father or something that brings back memories.

So it has been a while since I have posted..... Let me explain why.... In January after I decided to start this adventure I lost a dear friend and sister (not blood related). This sudden loss put me into a tail spin. I cried every day for nearly four weeks. I tried to push my feelings of grief aside and get back to life this was my first mistake. If I wasn't already lost and depressed this made things worse.
I have found that I have become despondent to people, I have allowed myself to hide away from everyone, mostly because I have felt so fragile with my feelings.
I lost the one person who I trusted as much as my own sister and husband. The one person I knew with out a shadow of a doubt would be there for me NO MATTER WHAT! It has been heart wrenching!

It wasn't until the first part of April before I realized that while I still miss her something fierce, I am OKAY.
and now...... I am finally to a point where I am ready to pick myself up, dust myself off and
to start again. To start fresh from here.....
the assignment that is due April 20th is: "Homelife: Leisure Time". That is pretty much self-explanatory, but I'm going to throw a little curve ball with this one. Take your shot with the Rule of Thirds in mind."

***Assignment: "The Weather Outside" Feb. 2 - 16 The weather has been pretty crazy around many parts of the world: flooding, snow and ice storms, cyclones, etc. If you are lucky, you are experiencing beautiful weather; if you are unlucky, you've got a snow shovel in your hands. So show me "The Weather Outside" in your area.

I have so many photos to edit and get online.... Working on that today and tomorrow. Hoping to be able to post on saturday. It has been a rough few weeks. I am starting to feel less sad and more like my old self.

The last few weeks my emotions have been all over the place. My camera on the other hand has not been anywhere but under the seat of my car. So rather than rushing around to turn in the last two weeks of assignments.....I am planning to start from HERE and go forward.

Not sure what the MAIN assignment is yet, it should post in the morning, but the side assignment is SLEEP. This should be interesting......

*****Update main assignment this week is: "Still Life: Food" Some of us are going through a very dreary part of the year. To compensate for the bad weather outside, I find that I take a lot of still lifes. Just concentrate on food items for this one.******

I am so far behind..... Trying to get caught up. Hoping to have all pictures edited and posted by the 26th.
This week: "Spot of Color" Color (or colour ) has an big impact on where our eyes travel in a photograph. Bright and/or light colors draw our eyes right to that area first and often that spot becomes the most important in the image. For this assignment, I want you to take a shot that has one area that commands your attention with color that is brighter than the rest of the shot. This is not selective color, but something that is more colorful than the rest of the image.

These are some of my favorite pictures from the last year. I find myself saying to my kids all the time "just one more shot" hence the name of the blog. I can not wait to see where this journey takes me.

I am headed on a new journey.... One I haven't thought of in a long time!
After taking family pictures this last fall I was asked by a few friends why I do not start my own photography business?
Honestly, I think I haven't because

I am a perfectionist
I am an amateur
oh and I am scared

So after some prodding from another friend I start to investigate a couple of schools. I found one online that I am really interested in and I can use the camera I have for the moment until I am able to find a good deal on a newer/better camera.

So I am off on a new journey. Still hoping to finish my BA degree, just taking a side road! Wish me luck!
